When repairs and restorations are no longer enough, a roof replacement gives Newcastle homes a sound, watertight roof built to handle coastal weather and summer storms.
Re-roofing, also called roof replacement, means removing the existing roof covering and replacing it, along with the parts underneath that keep it secure and dry. On a typical job that includes new battens, new valleys and heavy-duty sarking before the new roof is installed and the ridging is finished off.
It is a bigger job than a repair or a restoration, but it also resets the clock. Instead of chasing one problem after another on a tired roof, you start again with new materials chosen to suit your home.

We will always give you honest advice about which option makes the most sense in terms of both cost and long-term performance.
If your roof can be saved with repairs or a restoration, we will tell you.
Our blog explains the tipping point in more detail: signs an older roof may cost more to keep repairing than replacing.
Every re-roof is planned around your home, but the core steps stay the same.
We re-roof with all tile types, so your new roof can suit the style and age of your home. Our process takes care of everything from new battens and sarking through to fitting the tiles and finishing the ridging. Where possible, sound existing tiles may be reused. We'll talk you through the options.
We also supply and install new metal and Colorbond® roofs, including tile to metal conversions for homeowners who want to move away from tiles. Metal is lightweight and suits both modern and traditional homes. See our metal roofing page for more, including Colorbond.
The right roof for a beachside home is not always the right roof for a house in the Hunter Valley. Salt exposure, wind, heat and the style of the home all play a part. Read our guide to choosing the right roofing solution for harsh coastal climates.

Many older homes around Newcastle, Maitland and the Hunter have original roofs that have done decades of service. Older roofs often hide worn battens, tired valleys or timber problems that are only found once the roof is opened up. That is why we check the frame for twisting and separation of timbers and look for termites before we start, so any issues can be planned for.
When a storm has badly damaged a roof, re-roofing is sometimes the most sensible fix. We work with domestic, commercial and industrial customers and can handle insurance storm damage claims. See our storm damage page or read about navigating storm damage and insurance claims for Newcastle roofs.

If the roof structure is sound and the tiles or sheets are mostly in good condition, a restoration is often enough. If there is widespread damage, repeated leaking or failing timbers, a re-roof may be better value. We will give you honest advice and a free quote for the option that suits.
We only ever remove one section of the roof at a time. This limits exposure and helps prevent further interference from bad weather while the work is underway. Each section is closed in with new sarking and battens before we move on to the next part of the roof.
Once the old roof covering is removed, we dispose of it for you and recycle what we can. You do not need to organise skips or rubbish removal yourself. When the job is finished, we clean up and carry out a final inspection of the completed roof before we leave the site.
Yes. During the initial inspection we look at the frame to check for twisting and separation of timbers. We also look for termites. Finding these issues early means they can be addressed as part of the plan rather than becoming an unwelcome surprise halfway through the job.
Yes. As well as re-roofing with all tile types, we supply and install new metal and Colorbond® roofs, including tile to metal conversions. We check the frame first so the new roof goes onto a sound structure. We will explain what is involved for your home and give you a free quote.
